What a successful tour! It would not have been possible without the fantastic collaboration among all those involved. A special thanks to the California Air Resources Board, the California Fuel  Cell Partnership, Powertech Labs, the National Hydrogen Association and the U.S. Fuel Cell Council for their organizational efforts.

As we cross over the border today into Canada, Daimler will have added 1,700 additional miles to the 2.5 million driven thus far by its worldwide fleet. In the U.S. alone, the F-Cell fleet has accumulated over 300,000 miles since its debut a few years ago. This journey up the West Coast States has been an excellent opportunity to accentuate the ongoing reliability and stamina of the A-Class F-Cell and further solidify the camaraderie among fellow automakers as we all continue to test and showcase our vehicles while moving ever closer to commercialization.

We stopped off at the Washington State Capitol today.  What a beautiful location.  We struck a pose in front of the Capitol building with the other OEMs.  There was a lot of interest from the WA DOT, so a good stop overall.  After a intermediate stop at Fort Lewis the caravan ended up in Seattle.  Here we visited the Propel biodiesel station where Congressman Jim McDermott made an appearance.

After cruising through the lush, green mountain range of southern Oregon, the F-Cells arrived at our first stop of the day at the University of Oregon's Autzen stadium. After we conducted a ride-n-drive, Mayor Kitty Piercy waved the green flag as the vehicles set off to their next destination. Upon arrival in downtown Corvallis, people gravitated towards the vehicles positioned against the backdrop of a city park along the scenic Willamette River. Daimler and the other automakers offered drives and engaged Saturday strollers in conversations about the promise of fuel cell technology.

Driving north from our first stop in Chico today, temperatures rose as we headed to Redding where we entertained an enthusiastic crowd with a ride-n-drive at the stunning Sundial Bridge. Towards day’s end we crossed into Oregon and look forward to continuing our journey up the picturesque Willamette Valley.
